"IS EVERYBODY IN, THE CEREMONY IS ABOUT TO BEGIN"
I am delighted that you are joining me on my travels and the odd occasional squiffy evening. Along the way I will share with you a variety of my interests and ventures including my fascination of all things Jim Morrison, but first a little about me.
Living in Stanwell works well for me, Heathrow Airport and London are easily accesible, I live with my perfect partner Ian. Stanwell has links to various notable people, Lord Knyvett owned Stanwell Place, he successfully uncovered the gunpowder plot and arrested Guy Fawkes in the cellar at The Houses of Parliament. Gary Numan was raised here and attended Abbotsford secondary school.
Music has always been important to me, growing up I always enjoyed different music to that of my friends, The Doors, AC/DC and the Sex Pistols were all good for me. .
After leaving school I found employment in a record shop, a perfect job for for me, giving me ample time to indulge in my love of music.
The years in between were filled with the joy of having my son Dean. He's now married and has given me two adorable grandchildren, Maisie and Teddy.
Having the freedom to travel again opened up a whole variety of options, I was always keen on alternative and off the beaten track destinations. Solo travelling initially seemed intimidating but i now recommend it to everyone.
We belong to the world of motorcyclists, having recently passed my full licence after seven arduous attempts, the motto here being
"never give up!"
Music gigs and festivals are high priority we and have travelled far and wide for events. Las Vegas for Punk Rock Bowling was insane.
I have a real passion for India and have travelled solo to various cities. Varanasi throws you in at the deep end, it is one of the most colourful and fascinating places on earth. You have to go to experience every aspect of life and death here, it's not for the faint hearted, it is the India of your imagination.
Visiting abandoned and derelict sites such as Chernobyl is one of my favourite pastimes. Exploring a decaying and deserted building is equivalent to entering a time capsule, all the evidence of days gone by are clearly apparent.
You can't beat an intriguing cemetery, discovering the history and feeling of an old graveyard is a great way to spend a few hours. I highly recommend the guided tour of the west cemetery at Highgate, then a walk round the east side at you leisure, there are graves such as Karl Marx, Malcolm McLaren and Douglas Adams (Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy). The headstone of Patrick Caulfield has brutal simplicity.
Pere Lachaise cemetery in Paris is one of the most stunning places I have been to. It is the ultimate and most visited necropolis in the world and also has the added attraction of being Jim Morrison's final resting place.
One if my favourite things is this little ball of fluffy pent up aggression!
I am very keen on discovering the truth, some people say conspiracy theory, I much prefer conspiracy fact. Unfortunately we don't always get the full picture from the mainstream media, I enjoy researching articles until the real facts appear and with much patience and perseverance, the truth always prevails!
I chose the name of my website based on Jim Morrison's epitaph "Kata Ton Daimona Eaytoy" which loosely translates as "Be true to your own spirit". Morrison was the charismatic front man with The Doors and Dyonision until his sad and untimely death at the age of twenty seven.
The Lonely Planet provides expert advice on some alternative and surprising destinations here.
This year travel plans are sadly compromised but i'm making the most of the time to plan my next venture.
